MISSION, GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The Wisconsin African American Women, LTD. (“WAAW, LTD”) was founded in 1997 and is organized as a non-profit organization as defined in section 501C(3) of the Internal Revenue Code 1954. The WAAW, LTD. mission is to empower and enhance the community through economic development of women within the Greater Milwaukee area and throughout the state of Wisconsin. WAAW, LTD. has identified six main objectives to achieve their mission:
1.To provide a network for the exchange of ideas and business opportunities 2.To contribute to the economic development of the community. 3.To economically empower members through education and professional development. 4.To encourage business development. 5.To provide entrepreneurial training and business support services. 6.To enhance the self-esteem and business acumen to women of color through the state of Wisconsin. MEMBERSHIP
The WAAW, LTD. promotes business and community economic development for women of color within the Greater Milwaukee area. The composition of the WAAW, LTD. membership will bring a diversity of professional skills, talents and experiences to the proposed Women’s Business Resource Center and Business Incubator. Membership is open to all women who demonstrate a commitment to the mission and objectives of the WAAW, LTD. Membership is open to all individuals, irrespective of gender, race, creed, culture or religion. FOUNDERS
Contributing Founder: This category is defined as those individuals that provide an initial contribution of (One Thousand - $1,000), remain financially current with payment of annual dues of (Three Hundred Fifty Dollars - $350.00) and supports designated annual fundraising. These individuals are also designated as the original supporters and investors of the WAAW, LTD. Membership in this category is limited, with the number of contributing and supporting founders not to exceed a total of (Fifty – 50). This membership category represents a voting position. Your responsibility is to manage and develop the real estate and the day to day activities of this organization. Supporting Founders: This category of membership is defined as those individuals that provide an initial contribution of (One Thousand Dollars - $1,000), but choose to abstain from payment of annual dues or support of designated annual fundraising. Membership in this category will be limited to a total of (Fifty – 50). This category represents a non-voting position. PATRONS
Upon the completion of the fifty members for the category of Contributing Founders you will be considered a Patron: This category of membership is defined as those individuals that provide an initial contribution of (Three Hundred Fifty Dollars - $350.00), remain financially current with payment and annual dues of (Three Hundred Fifty Dollars- $350.00), and support designated annual fundraising. Membership in this category is unlimited. The category represents a voting position of ONE vote PER person at the annual meeting.
ORGANIZATION / INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP
This category of membership is defined as those Corporations or Institutions that provide an initial contribution of (Two Thousand Dollars - $2,000), but abstain from payment of annual dues or support of the designated annual fundraising. This category represents a non-voting position.
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP
This category of membership is defined as those Corporations or Institutions that provide an initial contribution of (Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars - $2,500) but abstain from payment of annual dues or support of designated annual fundraising. This category represents a non-voting position.
